Storytelling was a glaring issue, level design was good enough, music was okay. It was good, but not spectacular, pretty much what I expected. Speaking of opinion pieces, I guess I skipped reviewing Sonic Superstars? Honestly, there wasn’t much to say. But Generations was quite possibly Shadow’s most egregious appearance in all of Sonic canon, so this is his shot at redemption, hopefully. Unless they handle his character horrifically, which is most of the time. I did buy a used Xbox 360 a few years back so I could replay the disc I already had, so that feels like a waste now… But anyways, I’m never going to complain about new Shadow content. In terms of the remaster in general…I’m not really sure why it’s necessary? I don’t have Generations on PC, but it’s still readily available with graphics that hold up perfectly fine today. That’s…all there really is to say right now. Plus, they each appear to come with a boss fight, which makes it almost like 4 levels? I was just really hoping, with the tease last night, that we’d get a full-sized “Shadow Era,” or whatever they wanted to call it, so 3 levels + 1 boss fight. On the other hand, Sonic Generations levels are actually long and good, and presumably these will be up that quality. Well, that’s not a sequence of words I ever thought I’d have to write…īut holy what how could they just drop this out of nowhere!? This is just like the announcement of Episode Shadow for Sonic Forces, except, like…better in every way?īlack Doom returns and does to reality as the Phantom Ruby rightfully should have done! The Biolizard gets a new form! Shadow gets Chaos Control and Chaos Spear in gameplay! And it all just looks freaking awesome!ĭownside: the video description mentions “2 new experiences,” presumably just the ARK and Westopolis, so even fewer levels than we got out of Episode Shadow.
